This summer, Bedfunk returns with a standout collaboration destined to soundtrack the season. “Let It Begin” marks Estonian vocalist Sofia Rubina’s debut release on the label and reunites her with Pat Bedeau following their acclaimed 2017 collaboration “You & Me” on Tony Humphries’ TR Records. Joining them is returning Bedfunk favourite Rona Ray, bringing even more soul and depth to the release.
Born from a writing project between Sofia and Pat, the track quickly evolved when Sofia invited Rona on to the project, creating a soulful house record filled with warmth, groove and undeniable chemistry. “Let It Begin” celebrates connection, love and living fully in the moment.
Driven by shuffling rhythms, rich jazz-inspired chords and a deep rolling bassline, the record blends classic soulful house energy with standout vocal performances from both artists. Sofia and Rona trade melodies effortlessly, while Rona’s spoken 16-bar section adds an unexpected edge to the track’s uplifting spirit.
Known for her vibrant sound and genre-crossing style, Sofia Rubina brings a fresh energy to the Bedfunk family. With roots in jazz at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, she has built an international reputation through performances spanning New York, Asia and stages across more than fifteen countries. Featuring on respected labels King Street Sounds, Tony Records, Solid Ground Recordings. A long-standing creative partnership with Eric Kupper and collaborations with Marc Di Meo, Andy Ward & Todd Terry, has further shaped her soulful sound.
Meanwhile, Rona Ray continues to establish herself as one of soulful house music’s most respected voices, collaborating with names including DJ Spen, Ezel, Atjazz, Sean McCabe and Prunk. She’s become a notable presence in the global dance scene, recognized for her distinctive voice, memorable melodies, and soulful, evocative vocals that can take listeners from euphoric highs to moments of deep emotion
“Let It Begin” arrives as another defining release from Bedfunk, continuing the label’s reputation for championing world-class soulful house talent and timeless music built for both dancefloors and creating special moments, you feel long after the record has stopped spinning.
