It’s always a vibe when we welcome new talent to the Bedfunk roster, but when it’s a true soul legend like Imaani, it just hits different.
You might know her for iconic tracks like Wizeman, Bring Me Love, Time (with Copyright on Defected Records), or the deeply moving I Found My Light with The Layabouts on Reel People Music, which our friend Atjazz later flipped into something next-level. Imaani has been a cornerstone of UK soul and soulful house for decades, and her voice? Timeless.

She’s repped the UK on the Eurovision stage with her self-written hit Where Are You?, which moved over 250,000 copies. Or maybe you’ve caught her as one of the powerhouse voices behind Incognito, a group that’s flown the UK soul flag high for over 30 years, lighting up stages around the world.
Wherever you’ve heard her, one thing is clear: Imaani is the real deal. An elite talent with top 20 UK chart credentials and a catalogue packed with class. We couldn’t be prouder to welcome her to the Bedfunk crew.
When we hit the studio together, the energy was instant. Imaani brought her A-game, equal parts pro, humble, and just genuinely lovely to be around.
For her Bedfunk debut, she linked up with label head Pat Bedeau, and the chemistry was instant. It was one of those sessions where everything just clicked.
Pat laid down his signature soulful grooves while the insanely talented Ziggy Funk provided keys and pumping bassline, with the foundation set Imaani took it from there, crafting a heartfelt love song that’s pure magic.
The track is called Fool For You, and it is amazing! It’s rich, emotional, and driven by Imaani’s unmistakable tone, smooth, powerful, and straight from the soul.
They didn’t stop there and created an alternate version with live bass that is as smooth as Imaani’s vocals, making this a perfect package for daytime vibes or punchy club sets, you’re covered. This is modern soulful house at its best, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.
